Message from the President of Myanmar Veterinary Association


Greetings my esteemed colleagues!


            On behalf of Myanmar Veterinary Association, I am so excited to announce our MVA website that is now been developed. It will become our main objective of communication and building relationship with our members, colleagues and the public. I hope it will be one of the ways to facilitate greater interaction and discussion. It will go a long way to strengthen our fraternity and to advance the profession.

           The veterinarian, being at the forefront of safeguarding the health and welfare of the animals, foremost, serves to protect the interest of mankind in protecting its means of livelihood and source of food, promote the conservation of natural resources and ecological biodiversity, and champion the value of human-animal relationship. Veterinary public health (VPH) is a component of public health that focuses on the application of veterinary science to protect and improve the physical, mental and social well-being of humans.

           Myanmar Veterinary Association is a long standing institution established since 1974 and it is the only non profit NGO for veterinarians in Myanmar. MVA is a member of World Veterinary Association (WVA) and Federation of Asian Veterinary Association (FAVA). MVA carries out the activities on organizing seminars, workshops and conference including annual paying of respect to senior veterinarians. Nowadays MVA is also involved as a partnership in implementing USAID, PREVENT-Myanmar project to prevent avian influenza outbreak in Myanmar.

          Please register yourself with us and share your thoughts, ideas, feedback, question, news or any other information in our webpage.

           This is one of MVA main priorities, which is to establish relationship with newly graduate veterinarians and to further strengthen on our relationship with existing members to ensure success of MVA.

                MVA welcome to all Myanmar vets and let’s create the momentum for the Association to promote, maintain and protect the status and to work to attain the highest values and integrity of the Veterinary Profession.Through our web site, we strongly encourage an interactive communication between us and the members.

Dear the nomination on the 3rd FAVA-WAP AW award members,

On behalf of FAVA, It is a great pleasure to announce the recipient of the 3rd FAVA-WAP Asian Animal Welfare Award 2018. The FAVA-WAP Award selection committee has worked hard for the final recipient of the award. The final round of the award is dual awards for the year 2018, which are 2 recipients:

Lifetime Achievement Award - Dr Sivagurunathan Sivapiragasam from Malaysia
Young Veterinarian Encouragement Award - Dr Lwin Min Soe from Myanmar

FAVA would like to express our sincerest congratulation to both recipients. The 2 recipients will be invited to receive the honorable recognition awards in the FAVA Congress’s opening ceremony, on 1st November, 2018 at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Bali, Indonesia.
